Right at kilometer 78 of the highway that connects Havana with Pinar del Río is a property that has given much to talk about since its construction.
An uninhabited and ruined house has been the scene of multiple paranormal events for over thirty years, including:
- The ghostly apparitions
- the wail of spectral voices and
- the strange feeling of being watched as you walk past it.
What is the dark history of this house according to legends?
Many of the families who lived there in the past felt the need to leave the premises because they felt uncomfortable inside.
They have revealed to their loved ones the outbreak of arguments and lawsuits in an inexplicable way and for things that in the long run were insignificant.
They tell their friends that they have not been able to sleep well on many occasions and that they have been haunted by frights and nightmares.
They also claim to have lost some small objects while they were there and to have seen others out of place without anyone knowing why.
Neighbors in the area have claimed to have seen strange incandescent lights coming out of the windows of this house and to have seen local dogs enter the premises, but no trace of them has ever been seen again.
Juan, the man who lived among spirits
The house that originally belonged to Juan, a lonely man with a strong character, draws the attention of many, but no one dares to live in it.
It is believed that the specter of this man who died in old age continues to dwell in the enclosure and some even claim to have seen an old man wadding the earth at dawn and then disappear into the bushes while smoking a tobacco.
It is believed that since Juan lived in the house these paranormal phenomena developed, but as a reckless man he turned a deaf ear to them and according to speculation he learned to live with spirits without caring much about their messages.
Some onlookers dare to say that the ghosts tuned in with the old man, because, although they lived in the other world, they kept him company especially at night.
The abandoned house at kilometer 78 that no one dares to occupy
Due to its condition as an abandoned house, it has earned the respect of many, but a few have been tempted to enter its facilities to unveil once and for all, the mysteries that make the house of San Cristóbal so paradigmatic.
Others in yesteryear ventured into it to loot it in its prime.
The truth is that even in our days still no family has returned to live in it for fear of the unknown or the curses that the locals assure they are nourished by it.
