In relationships, it's normal to go through difficult times where love seems to fade or the connection weakens. If you feel your relationship is going through a period of distancing, this work, in conjunction with Oshún and Shangó, can help you attract love, stability, and harmony between you once again.
Materials and the step-by-step instructions you need for the ritual
To perform this ritual, you will need:
- A sunflower for Shango
- A red rose for Oshún
- A glass of beer for Shango
- A glass of red wine for Oshún
- Cinnamon
- Honey
- Two candles (one for each Orisha)
- A basin or deep container with water
We're going to offer the flowers upside down. For example, we're going to place the sunflower, a flower belonging to the goddess Oshún, in the name of Shangó, and the sunflower, the orisha, in the name of the drum king.
If you have welcomed Oshún and Shangó, place this work at their feet, or next to their soup tureens, and uncover them. If you haven't welcomed them, these Orishas seek a quiet, clean, and harmonious place to perform the invocation.
1. First part: Offering to the Orishas
- Place the sunflower for Shangó and the red rose for Oshún.
- Sprinkle a little cinnamon and honey over both flowers, without overdoing it.
- Put a glass of beer for Shangó and a glass of red wine for Oshún.
- Light two candles, one for each Orisha.
- Leave this offering overnight, allowing the energy of the Orishas to act on the relationship.
2. Preparation of the spiritual bath in the name of Oshún and Shangó:
The next day, collect the offering and follow these steps:
- Fill a basin (a large, deep container) with enough water for the ritual bath.
- Separate the petals from the sunflower and rose and add them to the water.
- Pour the red wine and honey into the basin.
- This bath is charged with the loving energy of Oshún and the passionate force of Shangó.
3. Take the spiritual bath with great faith and pray for love.
Use the water you've prepared after your daily bath. Pour this spiritual water over your body from the shoulders down. As you do so, mention both of your names (yours and your loved one's), visualizing reconciliation, strengthened love, and stability in your relationship. Do this with great faith.
