Spiritism is defined as a science that is based on nature and the origin and destiny of spirits, as well as their relationships with the material world.
His philosophy groups together all the moral precepts that are fostered in human beings through these same relationships.
National authors collect the emergence of spiritism in the largest of the Antilles around the second half of the nineteenth century as a form of religious practice, the truth is that these beliefs have passed as a legacy from generation to generation forming part of our cultural heritage and our traditions .
Types of spiritism
The Spiritist Doctrine in our country is based on four basic pillars:
- Scientific spiritism,
- Cordon Spiritism,
- the crossed Spiritism and
- individual Spiritism.
As part of the activities carried out in Cuban spiritist temples, there is the study of the Kardecian doctrine, reading the Book of Spirits, analyzing the Book of Mediums and learning the Book of Chosen Prayers.
In the cults, prayers, purification sessions and prayer practices are carried out, it should be noted that it is a discipline that is carried out between groups of people, although it can be developed individually, which requires prior preparation time and experience.
Scientific spiritism
Scientific spiritism, also known as table spiritism, is one of the branches of this most widespread school in Cuba.
It is based on meeting the mediums, around a table, on which seven glasses of water, a lit candle and a bouquet of white flowers must have been previously placed.
Taking this table as the starting point when occupying the chairs to take the positions, the participants cover their heads with a white scarf and at once the meeting begins to develop, which aims to summon the spirits and establish communication with them in order to receive their warnings and advice.
The session is guided by one or two mediums who must be experienced as they will be responsible for directing the meeting and for its successful development.
Spiritist practices and their elements
The spiritist faith uses in its sessions specific objects such as crosses, rosaries, flowers, cologne, cascarilla, prints and water as a purifying element.
It is valid to note that in our country other spiritistic tendencies have also developed, specifically named as purely divinatory expressions, which are cartomancy and palmistry, abilities formerly attributed to gypsies.
The close link that exists between the spiritual world and the world we know today is and will continue to be the subject of study and research by intellectuals and practitioners.
We can conclude by highlighting that spiritism as a theological science is part of the idiosyncrasy of Cubans, so we continue to search in this science for a guide to rise spiritually and evolve as a matter, in order to obtain satisfaction and evidence from beyond to illuminate our passage through earthly life, as the fundamental precepts of this religious manifestation are the conception of the soul, spiritual communication and the theory of progress.
