Before I begin, I want to clarify that I do not have the absolute truth.
Everything I share here is based on my knowledge, the lessons I've learned over time, and the legacies left to me by my ancestors and my religious home.
I hope this information helps you on your spiritual journey.
The missionary spirits of Saint Lazarus They are those who accompany us when we work with the energy of Saint Lazarus, the protector of the sick and the one who helps heal our ailments, both physical and spiritual.
These spirits are deeply connected to the earth, herbs, and simple elements, and always seek to help us find balance and well-being.
I share with you 4 simple rituals to ask for their help and venerate them.
Today I want to share with you some ways we can work with them and offer them what they need to be closer to us.
1. Minister: An Energy Package for San Lázaro
The minister is a simple but very powerful offering.
- It's basically a small bag made of jute or paper, in which we put a little bit of many elements.
We can use this small energy packet for cleansing or simply as an offering to connect with the spirits.
It is usually prepared with seven types of grains, such as beans (except black), corn, lentils, rice and wheat.
We also add a piece of tobacco, smoked fish and hutia, some coins, and something that can't be missed: a breath of dry wine.
We do all this so that the energy we share is rich and varied, and our spirits feel grateful.
2. Corn on the Cob: A Connection to the Earth
Another important element for the spirits of San Lázaro is the ear of corn.
- First we spread it with corojo butter and toast it a little.
- Then, we put a purple ribbon on it and put it in a gourd.
This simple gesture allows us to honor our connection to the earth and the food we receive from it.
The corncob represents the abundance and protection we seek when we ask for help from Saint Lazarus.
3. Oil Lighter, Light and Healing:
The spirits of Saint Lazarus like us to give them light, and a special way to do so is with an oil and cotton lighter.
This type of candle is highly prized because the oil used has a special value once the intention is placed on it.
After use, we can store it and mix it with other ingredients to prepare the famous Saint Lazarus oil, which relieves skin problems and joint pain.
By lighting this lighter, we not only give light, we also ask for healing and protection for ourselves and our families.
4. Herbs: The Power of Nature
Saint Lazarus and his spirits are great connoisseurs of plants, and they love it when we work with them.
Some of her favorites are bitter broom, purple basil, apazote, piñón botija, and cundiamor.
These herbs can be used for cleansing, or simply offered along with some dry wine, tobacco, bitter coffee, and toasted bread.
With this, we seek to make negative energies go away and for good energy to arrive and stay with us.
I hope these tips are helpful in working with your St. Lazarus missionaries.
As always, I send you many blessings and may your paths be filled with light.
