The old San Lázaro, protector of all Cubans, is prayed today in syncretism with the Orisha Babalú Ayé, great healer and wise man in the Yoruba Pantheon.

Both deities receive great attention, especially on December 17, when a large number of devotees arrive at their temple in El Rincón, in Havana, carrying offerings of flowers, fruits and candles, ready to fulfill promises made to the saint.
