Do you know Oduduwá? The Orisha who lives in the Darkness

Orisha Oduduwa

Oduduwa is one of the main deities of the Yoruba Pantheon, it is also known under the names of Odúa and Odudúa. This Orisha was brought to Cuba by the Yoruba ágbádò, an ancient tribe that sighted its origins in Africa.

Who is Oduduwá? Orisha characteristics

He is a saint highly respected by the religious and that houses many mysteries in his material manifestations.

El Foreman of the Dead

He is considered the potter of the human race for what is attributed to him along with Obatala the gift of creation.

Odúa personifies energy, which is not destroyed or disappears, as it is modified, this being its main tool, which it channels through the spirits who are its envoys, hence it is considered the foreman of the dead.

Religious syncretism

This guardian of the Osha is syncretized in the Catholic Religion with Saint Manuel, in the same way with Jesus Christ and through images he is related to THE Most Holy Name of Jesus.

Silver is your sacred metal

Oduduwá is an orisha who manifests himself through the snail in Santeria or through the Ifá board. Silver is his natural element par excellence, so much so that he lives in a chest made of this material.

Its ceremonial necklace is made with various materials such as silver, ivory and red coral, it is valid to emphasize that white and transparent beads should predominate in it.

The Orisha of Darkness

Its receptacle must be kept hermetically closed, it is an indispensable requirement that it has a bolt or a padlock since this Orisha should not be disturbed in vain.

It is vital that it is not reached by the rays of the star king, because it lives in the shadows, having established pacts with the darkness.

Adimuses and offerings to venerate Oduduwá

This deity receives various offerings among which are animals, food, drinks, candles and flowers among others.

The ram, the white goat, the common hen, the quail, the guinea fowl and the pigeons are sacrificed to him.

You can pay other items such as yam, cascarilla, cocoa butter, milk and bread made with wheat flour.

Advice from Oduduwa for your children

The children of Odúa tend to be impulsive people, this Orisha recommends that both virtues that are sought at the foot of this saint be respectful and prudent.

His father is strict in the terms of the ingestion of alcoholic beverages, to those who violate his guidelines he applies severe punishments. Recommend that your children wear light clothing, if possible white.

Odúa's offspring usually interact professionally in the legal world, a field in which they have innate skill.

Odúa cleans the roads with Cotton and Cascarilla

Oduduwa is closely related to Obatala Since both contributed in the creation of the world, hence the fact that they have common points such as the color white for their representations, both send blessings to humanity through the touch of the cascarilla and they prefer cleaning and purifying baths with cotton, as this is their herb par excellence.

The Osha collects that the men and women children of this deity do not crown him a saint but Obatalá in his place and later receive Oduduwá in another ceremony.

The mystical herbs of this Orisha are the White Bell, the Ceiba, the Marble Flower, the Ivy, the Plantain, the Prodigious and the Sage, these last two plants are very effective to perform sanctifications at the foot of the Blessed Sacrament.
